In 2016 we announced that Together Treasure Valley, an effort that brought area businesses together to do good in our community, has funded the creation of 50 high-quality steel benches that are being installed throughout the area.
“Part of Together Treasure Valley’s mission is to launch a community conversation about what we need, what we can do, what our vision of the Treasure Valley should be,” said Binna Jensen, project director for the campaign. “We’re excited to promote this communication by giving people a place to sit and talk.”
The benches, which are green steel and are adorned with the “Together Treasure Valley” logo, are donated to area places complimentary of the campaign as well as placed at selected businesses. Parks, town squares, historical sites, bike trails and scenic views would all be great locations to place a bench, and we’d like community input on where the benches should go. This was the second project from Together Treasure Valley, an initiative that launched spring of 2016. In addition, the group announced that it gave $18,000 to six of our public libraries.
“It’s been inspiring to see what can be accomplished when people come together and act on simple ideas to enhance our community. It’s exciting to think about the potential for what comes next,” said Beth Toal, vice president for communications and marketing for St. Luke’s, one of the partners in Together Treasure Valley.
More information about Together Treasure Valley, the library grants, the bench project and future initiatives may be found at togethertreasurevalley.com. As the benches are installed, their locations will be listed on this website as well.
The Together partners selected their projects after culling through more than 150 ideas and suggestions submitted through the Together website. We are now seeking ideas for 2017 projects. To share your vision for our Valley, please submit an idea here!
