Did you know: George has lived in the Treasure Valley since 2001.

George Iliff, Managing Owner

A friend is considering moving to the Treasure Valley. What’s your elevator pitch on why he or she should?

The Treasure Valley has the best of both urban and rural environments. It is a highly engaged community focused on the preservation of our history and the preparation for our future. We are the best kept secret in the Northwest!

What’s your favorite piece of public art and where in the world is it?

The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, Denmark.

What’s your go-to book to give a friend?

“Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom.

If you could change one thing about the Treasure Valley, what would it be and why?

I would like more opportunities to easily engage in the arts. Higher-caliber performance arts are still expensive and more difficult to access in this area.

What is the one thing about the Treasure Valley you would never change?

The people in the Treasure Valley are so friendly and hospitable. We truly have a great sense of community.

One of our area’s treasures is the outdoors. What’s your favorite thing to do here?

I love to hike in the greater Boise area!

What makes the Treasure Valley a treasure?

Our sense of connected community, proximity to larger metro areas (e.g., Seattle and Denver), ease of access to outdoor activities, urban amenities and opportunities for community engagement.

Together Treasure Valley gave $18,000 to six area libraries. Why was that important to you and to the group? Have you had an “aha moment” in your life when it comes to literacy or education?

Many years of my life have been invested in education. I recognize its incredible value in the life and health of our community. The library is a central location for the community to gather, engage in information and share the values of education with each other. It is vitally important for our local libraries to have the financial support to maintain their material offerings, resources and community programs.

Together Treasure Valley had about 100 requests to place the 50 benches we bought for the area. Did that reaction surprise you, and where are you looking most forward to seeing the benches?

I’m not surprised, as the benches are a nice way to amplify courtyard/public space.
