In 2016 we announced that Together Treasure Valley, an effort that brought area businesses together to do good in our community, funded the creation of 50 high-quality steel benches that are installed throughout the area.
“Part of Together Treasure Valley’s mission is to launch a community conversation about what we need, what we can do, what our vision of the Treasure Valley should be,” said Binna Jensen, project director for the campaign. “We’re excited to promote this communication by giving people a place to sit and talk.”
The benches, which are green steel and are adorned with the “Together Treasure Valley” logo, were donated to area places complimentary of the campaign as well as placed at selected businesses. The community made suggestions of parks, town squares, historical sites, bike trails and scenic viewing areas and the Together Treasure Valley partners narrowed these requests down to the 50 benches available.
This was the second project from Together Treasure Valley, an initiative that launched spring of 2016. “It’s been inspiring to see what can be accomplished when people come together and act on simple ideas to enhance our community. It’s exciting to think about the potential for what comes next,” said Beth Toal, vice president for communications and marketing for St. Luke’s Health Systems, one of the partners in Together Treasure Valley (2016-2019).
The benches have been so popular that Together Treasure Valley committed to providing some additional benches in 2018. There are now 67 Together Treasure Valley benches around the valley. A number of benches were placed along the greenbelt in connection with the 50th anniversary celebration of the greenbelt in 2019.
